I’m Nakisa Samarkandi — a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) in Canada. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and bring about 24 years of experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Before immigrating to Canada, I was the founder and director of Raya Psychological Counseling Center in Tehran, operating under the supervision of the Iranian Welfare Organization. My professional background also includes working as a psychologist with Tehran’s “Sedaye Moshaaver” helpline, as well as with Kheradmand and Tiam preschools. In addition, I’ve taught psychology at Islamic Azad University and the University of Applied Science and Technology affiliated with the Welfare Organization.
With a deep passion for psychology and helping others, I strive to create a safe, empathetic, and confidential therapeutic space. I believe in building a strong therapeutic alliance and tailoring each session to the unique needs of my clients — whether they're seeking short-term solutions or deeper personal insight and transformation.
Depending on the client’s goals and values, I draw from various therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, brief psychodynamic therapy, and systemic approaches for couples and families.
My areas of focus include psychological disorders, personality disorders, sex therapy, interpersonal relationship issues, parenting support, pregnancy and postpartum challenges, menopause-related concerns, grief, and loss.
If you’re going through a difficult time or seeking support for personal growth, I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey.
